Uniformization of elliptic curves
Every elliptic curve E defined over C is analytically isomorphic to C*=qZ for some q ∊ C*. Similarly, Tate has shown that if E is defined over a p-adic field K, then E is analytically isomorphic to K*=qZ for some q ∊ K . Further the isomorphism E(K) ≅ K*/qZ respects the action of the Galois group GK/K, where K is the algebraic closure of K. I will explain the construction of this isomorphism
Propaganda and persuasion by television during the 1980 coup d'etat in Turkey
Ankara : The Department of Political Science and Public Administration and Institute of Economics and Social Sciences of Bilkent Univ., 1998.Thesis (Master's) -- Bilkent University, 1998.Includes bibliographical references leaves 114-121This thesis tries to put a light upon the usage of television as an
efficient tool of political communucation during 1980 military
intervention. In this work, the place of television in Turkish society,
impact on Turkish audience and the technological developments in
different political periods are also analyzed. From the first day of
broadcasting on these issues have been inspected through official
reports, records and documents and data with official source were
obtained. The juridicial substructure of television in Turkey was
studied on the three different periods of military intervention. Also
the writings and memoirs of who witnessesed these three periods and
the socio-cultural echoes of this medium and regulations were tried to
be figured in different chapters. With the oficcial data obtained,
numerous tables and figures were drawn and the
differences/improvements in these periods were examined through a
comparative perspective.Sevgilier, Ülkem ÖzgeM.S
Power values of power sums: a survey
Research on power values of power sums has gained much attention of late,
partially due to the explosion of refinements in multiple advanced tools in
(computational) Number Theory in recent years. In this survey, we present the
key tools and techniques employed thus far in the (explicit) resolution of
Diophantine problems, as well as an overview of existing results. We also state
some open problems that naturally arise in the process.Comment: This collaboration was formed from the Women in Numbers Europe 4

Uniformization of generalized D-elliptic sheaves
Drinfeld defined the notion of elliptic modules, which are now called Drinfeld modules, as an analogue of elliptic curves in the function field setting. To prove the Langlands correspondence in this context, Drinfeld studied moduli spaces of elliptic sheaves. The categories of elliptic sheaves and Drinfeld modules are equivalent under certain conditions. Since then, many generalizations of elliptic sheaves have
been studied, such as D-elliptic sheaves defined by Laumon, Rapoport and Stuhler and Frobenius-Hecke sheaves defined by Stuhler. In this thesis, I introduce a new
generalization of elliptic sheaves, called generalized D-elliptic sheaves which can be thought of as a generalization of both D-elliptic sheaves and Frobenius-Hecke
sheaves. I study their moduli space and prove a uniformization theorem. This builds on work of Laumon-Rapoport-Stuhler, of Hartl and of Rapoport-Zink
Desmoplactic fibroma of the mandible, a rare case.
Desmoplastic fibroma (DF), a rare benign locally aggressive neoplasm of bone composed of bland spindle cells and abundant collagen. In this report, we present a case of DF in the mandible. Differential diagnosis and treatment strategy are discussed with a literature review. An 11-year-old male patient with swelling and pain complaint in left mandible visited our clinic. As a result of radiological and clinical examination, a well and sclerotic demarcated lytic lesion was detected.A computed tomographic scan demonstrated 3 × 11cm multifocal expansive lesions at the left mandible. The lesion has excised. As a result of histopathological examination the lesion turned out to be DF. Although we know that recurrence rates raises to 55-72% from 17% when local excision preferred over hemimandiblectomy or segmental resection; to do not disturb the natural maxillofacial skeletal progress. A periodic follow-up is warranted
